Privacy Policy

Who we are

AuthorUnlocked is a product of True Anchor LLC, based in Dafter, Michigan. We build writing tools grounded in craft — not data collection. You can reach us at connect@authorunlocked.app.

Your manuscripts and creative work

When you upload a manuscript or paste text into AuthorUnlocked, that content is sent to the Anthropic API to generate revision passes, context cards, and chapter drafts. Here is what happens to it:

• We do not store your manuscript text. Files you upload are processed in memory and discarded after the API call completes. They are never written to a database.
• Anthropic does not use your content to train AI models. Anthropic's API usage policy explicitly prohibits using API inputs and outputs to train models. Your writing is not training data.
• We do not read your manuscripts. The only system that processes your text is the Anthropic API, under the terms described above.
• Your story is yours. Nothing you create using AuthorUnlocked belongs to us.

What we store in Firebase

If you create an account and sign in, we store the following in Google Firebase:

• Your name and email address (from Google sign-in or email/password registration)
• Your project titles and element content (characters, world, conflict, premise, scene descriptions)
• Your outline stage notes
• Your approved chapter drafts
• The date your account was created and last login timestamp

This data is used solely to sync your work across devices. It is stored securely in Firebase Firestore, locked to your account — no other user can access it.

If you use AuthorUnlocked without creating an account, nothing is stored on our servers. Your work saves to your browser's localStorage only and never leaves your device.

Cookies and analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to count page visits and understand which tools writers use most. This data is anonymous — we see page view counts, not individual user behavior. No tracking cookies are placed on your device for advertising purposes.

We use Firebase Authentication to manage sign-in sessions. This sets a session cookie that keeps you logged in. It contains no personal information beyond your account identifier.

We do not serve ads. We do not work with advertising networks. We do not sell, share, or license your data to third parties.

Third-party services we use

• Anthropic — processes manuscript and draft text through their API. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• Google Firebase — stores account data and project content for signed-in users. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Vercel — hosts the platform and provides anonymous analytics. Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your project data at any time using the export features in each tool
• Use the platform without creating an account — no data is stored server-side in that case

To request deletion of your account and data, email us at connect@authorunlocked.app with the subject line "Delete my account." We will process your request within 7 days.

Children's privacy

AuthorUnlocked is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will never change this policy in ways that reduce your privacy protections without clear notice.
